THE LANECIA ROUSE TINSLEY GALLERY

Named in honor of our founding resident artist, the Lanecia Rouse Tinsley Gallery is designed for the flourishing of the arts and stands at the intersection of creativity, beauty, and theology. In its first year, 2022, the gallery exhibited renowned artists Bruce Herman, Anthony Suber, and Sara Triana, in addition to the annual shows of the Holy Family HTX Artists’ Collective.

UPCOMING EXHIBITION:

On U.S. A Solo Exhibition Roslyn Dupré

Onus: something that is one’s duty or responsibility.
On us: about us, about this group.
On U.S.: about America.

  1. Simultaneously an exhortation to, a proposition for, and a celebration of the stakeholders in the future of our nation.

  2. A probing and an amassing of the questions we ask ourselves as the political landscape of our country shifts shape, such as “Who are we?” and “Where do we go from here?”

  3. Perhaps, a protest. As in: “This is our flag” or “Here is our claim” or “We are a people that self-correct and self-adjust. We are truth-tellers.”

About the artist
Roslyn Dupré is a sculptor and textile artist who works with humble materials, traditional craftsmanship and fine art fabrication to wildly expand current invocations of Americana. By exploiting grids, repetition and symbolism, she fabricates novel revelations of our shared everyday world and evokes fresh ways of viewing the mundane. Recent solo exhibitions of her work have included: Regarding your theories of time and space at Gallery 1 of the Elgin Street Studios, University of Houston (2024); Case Study: Sargasso Sea at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (2024); Southern Gothic at Box 13 Artspace (2022); and Savage Bayou at the Bosque Gallery, Lone Star College (2022). Dupré is a third-year MFA candidate in Sculpture at the University of Houston where she is a Cynthia Woods Mitchell fellow. She also holds an MA from the Writing Seminars at the Johns Hopkins University. Her bronze work is included in the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs Airport Portable Works Collection and is currently on display in Hobby Airport.

The exhibition runs June 28 - August 11
