Becoming Episcopalian at Holy Family
Four pathways. Two cohorts a year. A clear way in.
You came in curious. One Sunday, or fifty. And now you're asking the question that finally has a real answer: how do I belong here?
Becoming Episcopalian is the path: a clear arc from your first Sunday to officially home in this Episcopal church in Houston's East End.
Which path is yours?
Four different kinds of people walk through our door.
Each one deserves a different welcome.
CATECHUMEN
I haven't been baptized.
You're exploring Christian faith for the first time. We'll walk with you from worship into the Jesus-Centered Life Circle, through Sunday Catechesis Class, and through the rites of preparation. The journey ends at the water with baptism at the Easter Vigil or All Saints’ Sunday.
CANDIDATE
I'm baptized, but not Episcopalian.
Your baptism is real and honored: Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, whatever your story. We won't ask you to repeat it. We'll help you understand the Anglican way of being Christian and welcome you formally through Confirmation or Reception at the bishop's annual visit.
TRANSFER
I'm already Episcopalian.
Welcome home. Maybe you grew up in The Episcopal Church and you've been away. Maybe you just moved to Houston from another Episcopal parish. Jump into catechesis alongside the community and make Holy Family officially yours.
PARENTS
We want to baptize our child.
A beautiful commitmenT. Baptism Is a promise the whole family makes. We'll prepare you in a single workshop, welcome you publicly through the rites, and baptize your child on one of four Baptism Sundays a year.
