Gathering people into communion in Houston’s historic East End.
Welcome to Holy Family Episcopal Church, a church in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas in Houston’s historic East End. We’re here because God is bringing all things together in Jesus Christ. The word for that togetherness is communion. So we’re on a mission: to gather people into communion with God, one another, and our neighbors.
We pursue this mission when:
We pray and worship.
We proclaim the Gospel.
We promote justice, peace, and love.
Wherever you are in that story, you’re in the right place. You’ll find us at 3719 Navigation Blvd, in a renovated building in the East End. Our building is also home to the LAR Gallery, a free art space open to the neighborhood. We share our space with other community organizations, including Elderflower Montessori, who serve the East End alongside us.
Here’s what to expect.
Sundays center on communion, a meal where Jesus shares bread and wine with us. Every service moves through the same five moments, week to week. They’re practice for a Jesus-centered life, and each moment is a parable we carry out the door.
-
Song and prayer bring individuals together to bless God’s Kingdom and become a community of belonging.
-
We listen for God’s Word in scripture, sermon, and silence as we learn to hear God’s voice everywhere else.
-
We come to the waters to stand for what we believe, pray for the world, confess our sin, and pass the peace as a people shaped by forgiveness.
-
We come to the table, where Christ gives himself and makes us his body so that we can practice this hospitality at every table in our lives.
-
We’re sent to catch up with what God is already doing in the world, and join Christ in communion with our neighbors.
We live our mission of communion three ways.
