Building Trust + Belonging: a Community Canvas Workshop

  • The Annex HTX 2007 Commerce St Houston, TX 77002 (map)

This is a workshop that will neither waste your time nor your money.
At the end of this day you will walk out with a real, customized, and workable framework that will actually help you and your team build a meaningful community.

What is The Community Canvas?
The Community Canvas is an open source framework and guide to building and growing on- and offline communities. It has been downloaded over 50,000 times and is part of a Facebook community of over 2,500 community builders. The Community Canvas can be used as a guiding framework in establishing and organizing a community or as feedback tool to support critical decision making and co-creation amongst stakeholders and members.

What is a Community Canvas Workshop?
This workshop asks, “How can we design meaningful and impactful communities?” In order to share what we have learned in our work with the Community Canvas and to continue learning from fellow community builders across the globe, we are hosting a series of interactive workshops.

During the workshop we will dive deeper into the underlying ideas of the Canvas and look at the following questions:
+ What is a community and what isn't?
+ What makes communities powerful?
+ How can we design such communities?

Is this workshop for me?
The workshops are designed for practitioners who are building communities in their daily life and to provide a space for an interactive conversation to meet peers and learn from each other. The workshops can also be valuable for people who are considering building communities and want to better understand the basics.

What will we explore in this workshop?
- Understand challenges and opportunities of various communities
- Discover solutions and complete a Community Canvas
- Actionable plan to strengthen your community
- Develop community with other leaders in the process
- Share ideas and resources

During the workshop you will be guided by two experts in creating community.
